twitballot //
On the 29th of March 2010, a mere 48 hours after the idea was conceived, Twitballot, a web app that allows you to quickly set up a voting system within twitter, was launched. Currently, tweeters wishing to survey their followers are required to create a survey on a third-party website. Our concept is to simplify this process. Twitballot allows tweeters to launch a survey using just a tweet so we’ve cut out the need to leave twitter and to sign up somewhere.
To launch a survey, the tweeter must add #twitballot somewhere in their question and define the possible answer options using a #tag before each option. Respondents can then reply to the question by tweeting back one of the #options from the question and adding #twitballot. A live example tweeted by @launch48 this morning was “Do you think @Launch48 is #very_cool, #cool or #not_cool? #twitballot”. Twitballot automatically detected this tweet, created a ballot in the system and sent @launch48 a link to a visual graph displaying real-time results. Various @launch48 followers then answered the question choosing #answer. One example was “Hi @Launch48, it’s actually 47 hours with daylight saving, but I think it’s #very_cool! Our system focuses on twitter’s key strengths; its real-time nature of tracking the lives of real people and current events. Politicians can use twitballot to gain real policy feedback, radio stations for listener engagement, PR & Marketing agencies to gauge effectiveness of campaigns, celebrities and individuals can use it to poll their friends. Graham Greensall, Director of Servoy UK and owner of Worxinfo said “I’ve discussed the concept with the managing director of one of the leading branding organisations and he very quickly realised the potential to provide improved feedback to their concept”. Mark Hales, a Private Investor and Shareholder in TheBusinessDesk.com, said “This gives corporates a really cool way to engage with their users and get back quantitative feedback quickly”. 10 hours to go and counting…“Gerrard or Lampard, who is best for England?”
“Should A-levels be scrapped?”
Ever had one of these burning questions and wondered what everyone thinks about these topics?
Twitballot is a cool new way for users to ask other users questions, get real time feedback, and make decisions accordingly. The phenomenal success and growth of twitter can be attributed to its real-time nature of tracking the lives of real people and popular current events.
Twitballot will allow users, including corporate businesses, politicians, celebrities, and also individuals to immediately view the results to important topics such as product development, customer service, launch events, topical debates and the political questions of the day. The results will be displayed in instant real time visual outputs on twitballot.comas well as potentially through widgets on various websites.
Twitballot is quick, simple, and incredibly interactive, as it provides immediate feedback on all the burning questions that you have. It is differentiated by offering the easiest way to access feedback to questions tweeted in real time.
